Day 1 – September 20 - Welcome to DUBROVNIK (D)
Dubrovnik is a medieval city on the Croatian side of the Adriatic coastline and a treasure trove of cultural, and historical monuments that were created throughout its thousand-year existence. In the past, it was a City-Republic, and alongside Venice one of the most famous cultural-economic centers on the Mediterranean. In more recent times, it has become the center of modern cultural and tourist events: a city of summer festivals – an international parade of top musical and theatrical achievements, a city of museums and galleries. These values have turned Dubrovnik into a place that offers a rich selection of various experiences and excitement, but also a complete holiday in a quiet and calming, mild Mediterranean ambiance and wonderful seaside landscapes.

Itinerary:

  • Arrival in Dubrovnik: A Warm Welcome to the Pearl of the Adriatic
  • Upon landing at Dubrovnik Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative, who will assist you with your transfer to Gruž Harbour, where your adventure begins. Upon arrival at the harbor, you can check in for your cruise. While your cabin will be ready from 2 p.m., any early arrivals can safely store their luggage aboard the ship.

The timeless elegance of its marble streets, the baroque charm of its ancient buildings, and the shimmering blue of the Adriatic Sea combine to create a scene straight from a dream.

Day 2 – September 21 - DUBROVNIK – SLANO – STON – TRSTENIK – KORČULA (B, L)
croatia vacation packages The Walls of Ston are a series of defensive stone walls, originally more than 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) long, that surrounded and protected the city of Ston, in Dalmatia, part of the Republic of Ragusa, in what is now southern Croatia. The Walls of Ston were known as the "European wall of China". Despite being well protected by massive city walls, the Republic of Ragusa used Pelješac to build another line of defense. At its narrowest point, just before it joins the mainland, a wall was built from Ston to Mali Ston. Throughout the era of the Republic, the walls were maintained and renovated once they were meant to protect the precious salt pans that contributed to Dubrovnik's wealth, which are still being worked today. Demolition work began on the walls following the fall of the Republic. Later the Austrian authorities took materials away from the wall to build schools and community buildings, and also for a triumphal arch on the occasion of the visit by the Austrian Emperor in 1884. The wall around Mali Ston was demolished with the excuse that it was damaging the health of the people. The demolition was halted after World War II. The wall, today a 5.5-kilometer-long wall links Ston to Mali Ston and is in the shape of an irregular pentangle. It was completed in the 15th century, along with its 40 towers (20 of which have survived) and 5 fortresses. Within, three streets were laid from north to south and three others from east to west. Thus, fifteen equal blocks were formed with 10 houses in each. Residential buildings around the edges. The Gothic Republic Chancellery and the Bishop's Palace are outstanding among the public buildings. The main streets are 6 m wide (except the southern street which is 8 m wide) and the side streets are 2 m wide. The town was entered by two city gates: The Field Gate (Poljska vrata) has a Latin inscription and dates from 1506. The centers of the system are the fortress Veliki kaštio in Ston, Koruna in Mali Ston, and the fortress on Podzvizd hill (224 m). Noted artists who work on the walls project are Michelozzo, Bernardino Gatti of Parma, and Giorgio da Sebenico (Juraj Dalmatinac).  The city plan of Dubrovnik was used as a model for Ston, but since Ston was built on prepared terrain, that model was more closely followed than Dubrovnik itself. In terms of infrastructure like water mains and sewers built in 1581, Ston was remarkably unique in Europe. Trstenik is a village situated on the southern coast of the Pelješac peninsula. It is connected to the Croatian mainland by the coastal road via Ston. The village is located in a deep, south-facing bay under the tall Pelješac hills, with a large pebble beach at the base of the bay. The bay is an anchoring spot as it has a well-protected pier, though it is not recommended in times of southern wind Jugo. Trstenik is about 90 km away from Dubrovnik and due to its unique gorgeous and un-spoilt location, is considered one of the most beautiful villages on the Croatian coast. The sea here is crystal clear and is rich in underwater life. Numerous small bays and beaches that can only be reached by boat are in the near vicinity of Trstenik. History of Trstenik: Trstenik in the 19th and beginning of the 20th century was an important harbor for the transportation of grapes from Peljesac’s isolated southern vineyards to Italy and beyond. At that time the only way to transport grapes at harvest from the southern slopes of Pelješac was to load them on donkeys and carry them over the mountain to the wineries in Potomje (a village on Pelješac that has a well-known winery), or along the steep southern ridges to Trstenik to be loaded on boats and transported by sea to Italy or Split and Dubrovnik. Pelješac Wines: Trstenik is the home of Grgich Winery which was founded by Napa Valley winemaker Mike Grgich, a Croatian emigre, in 1958. Grgich, who earned international fame as the winemaker at Calistoga’s Chateau Montelena, founded his own Grgich Hills winery in Rutherford in 1971. Red wine Plavac Mali is a famous product of this winery. Korčula was first mentioned as early as the 10th c. in works of Byzantine historians under the name "Stone Town". It flourished under the Venetian government and later on it spread around the town walls. But in spite of all that, it is still the most famous as the birthplace of Marco Polo who was probably born here in 1254, and reminders of him can be seen all around the town, including the extremely interesting Marco Polo Museum which is something you definitively don`t want to miss when visiting this beautiful Dalmatian town. Today it`s a town where you can vividly feel the Mediterranean spirit of people who live and work in this mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture.

The largest part of this amazing river’s course is the national park, which in addition to its natural phenomena abounds with cultural and historical monuments. The most outstanding of these is the Franciscan monastery on the tiny island of Visovac, set in the middle of the lake widening into the river like a precious stone. Within the monastery, there is a picture gallery and a church, the origins of which are traced back to the 14th century. In the middle of the canyon, upstream of the river, is an interesting Krka Orthodox monastery, while on the high ground above the river several old ruins sit. The old mills, which have been transformed into small ethnographic museums where one can see how wheat was ground in the olden days, are a popular attraction for visitors. Heritage interpreters are dressed in traditional folk costumes, which is particularly interesting and entertaining for children, who are frequent visitors to the park. However, the main attraction of Krka National Park lies in its seven waterfalls. The widest of these is Roški slap, although Skradinski Buk is the biggest and most well-known.

Itinerary:
