Marjan Hill
After you’re done exploring amazing Diocletian’s Palace, one of the places you don’t want to miss in Split is Marjan Hill. Marjan Hill is a protected area that is located on the west side of the city. It is easily accessible by foot from the city center.
While you are walking up the hill, there are many different viewpoints to check out and to enjoy all the different levels of Split. There are many benches and places to relax along the way. If you are exploring Marjan Hill for the first time, don’t be alarmed by all the locals who are running, jogging or biking up the hill. This may be one of the best tourists spots for visitors, but it is also a daily place to relax and exercise for locals.
This path is often a recommended tourist route and it takes you to a place called Vidilica or “The Viewpoint.” From Vidilica you have stunning views of Split’s city harbor and panoramic views of the city center.
If you decide to climb up to the top of the Hill, you will see several votive churches. When you finally reach the top, magnificent views will open up giving you the best observation point to admire the surrounding nature and the sea.
Bring your picnic basket to the top of Marjan Hill and you’ll have the best dining spot in town. Sit back, relax and watch the ferries in the distance heading to the different Croatian Islands.
If you tour around Marjan Hill by the seaside, you can enjoy several beaches: Ježinac, Obojena Svjetlost, Kašjuni and Bene. These beaches are all accessible by bike, car or public bus. Hop onto a kayaking and explore the seaside and beaches from water.
Whatever you decide to do around Marjan Hill, you will fall in love with this nature oasis that is located in the Centre of Split.
