Croatia – The Stats Point To The End!

One of the most fascinating stats we track daily is the total number of people with an active case of COVID-19 in Croatia. Remarkably, this figure has continued to rapidly decline, with now JUST 55 PEOPLE in the whole of Croatia currently recovering from the virus. At this continued pace, Croatia will become one of the world’s first countries to completely eradicate the virus and become COVID FREE.

In our last update, just one week ago, we were thrilled to announce that Croatia experienced its first day with no new cases since early March. In what shows an ever-improving situation, there have been JUST 2 NEW CASES in the whole of the last week 3 new cases in the last 10 days.

As we explored in our travel update on May 27th, life in Croatia has returned to normal with the beaches open and tourists and locals enjoying the lovely weather and long summer nights. We will continue to keep you updated of the current situation and send our warm wishes to our friends and travelers currently on the ground in Croatia!

Montenegro Becomes Europe’s First COVID FREE Country

Croatia’s majestical neighbor Montenegro has become the first country in Europe that can classify itself as COVID FREE! Renowned for its spectacular beauty, glistening coastline and medieval villages, Montenegro is a real hidden gem of Europe that continues to garner prominence with experienced travelers.

Often referred to as Europe’s southernmost fjord, the Bay Of Kotor in particular is well known for its rugged peaks, hidden waterside towns and incredible hiking trails along cobbled pathways that lead to some of the most spectacular viewpoints to be found in all of the Balkans.

While we could gush on about all that Montenegro has to offer, we must seriously acknowledge the extraordinary achievement of Montenegro in becoming COVID FREE. The country experienced less than 10 total deaths throughout the entire outbreak and has not had one new case confirmed since as far back as May 5th. On May 24th the country announced it was completely COVID FREE with not one active case of the virus throughout the country. As of today’s day of writing, it will mark a full 10 days without an active case in Montenegro!

If you are interested in learning more about the hidden wonders of Montenegro then do get in touch with our team to learn more. We have a wealth of experience in travel all across the Balkan region and are well placed to create an itinerary that suits exactly what you want and allows you to get the most of your Montenegrin experience!

Lake Bled Slovenia

Slovenia Days Away From Becoming COVID FREE

Where the Alps meets the Mediterranean: Croatia’s other fabulous neighbor, Slovenia, is also in the unique position of nearly becoming COVID FREE! Despite bordering more seriously impacted countries such as Italy, Slovenia responded extremely efficiently to handling the virus and was able to halt the spread in its tracks. As a result, Slovenia is down to just 8 active cases and has only experienced 1 death from the virus in the 8 days.

Slightly less hidden than Montenegro, but equally as captivating and certainly as charming, Slovenia is fairytale like in its exquisite beauty. But, before we illustrate its rich history and warming charm, it’s worth noting the type of country Slovenia is. Firstly, English is spoken to a very high standard almost everywhere. It’s also known for being one of the safest places in the world, as well as the cleanest, plus was awarded the Green Capital of Europe award in 2016 for its efforts in promoting sustainability.

But what really marvels when you talk of Slovenia is its dramatic medieval architecture and serene natural beauty. From the illustrious and winding white water rafting routes in the Julian Alps to the tiny, peaceful but marvelously captivating coastal town of Piran – Slovenia really has it all, despite its moderate size as a country.

If you would like to learn more about the magic of Slovenia, then our destination experts are on-hand to talk you through a range of custom itineraries that are available. If you’re an adrenaline junky we can explore a range of climbing options across Slovenia’s towering peaks or put together a trip that allows you to feel the water’s energy and breathtaking green nature as you raft or canoe through stunning gorges! Alternatively, if what gets you going is freshly prepared local cuisine and experiencing hand-picked local wines, then you’re in the right place as well!

The US Is Getting Ready To Travel

Like in Europe, we are seeing strong progress right here in the United States, especially with domestic travel.

From USA Today, it noted that for Memorial Day weekend the number of people passing through TSA airport checkpoints went past 300,000 for the first time in nearly two months.

Also, In a statement to USA Today, JetBlue Airways said “We continue to see recovery, and load factor over Memorial Day weekend was 45%. While much lower than normal, this is clear progress from April when the average load factor was less than 20%,”

In addition to this, popular tourism destinations within the United States are beginning to set dates for their return to action. Walt Disney World in Orlando is due to reopen on July 11th whilst Las Vegas resorts such as Caesars Palace are due to reopen sooner on June 4th.

With significant progress being seen for domestic travel we are hopeful that international travel may be next on the horizon. To share her thoughts on the current situation our CEO Pamela Robinson checks in with her weekly column.

A Note From Our CEO
