The good news is that US residents who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to travel to the European Union this summer. The president of the European Commission announced that she expects all 27 member states to comply with this exciting plan to reboot tourism in time for peak season.
This means that travelers will be able to fly to Croatia for their vacation if they have been vaccinated before the time of their departure.
Now, with the world opening up again, it’s time to treat yourself to that much-needed change of scenery, and experience a truly magical, enchanting trip of a lifetime.

What’s the Covid situation like in Croatia?
When it comes to vaccinations, the country has done an awesome job – first taking precautions during its lockdowns, then employing sanitization and social distancing, and now to vaccinations. At the current time of writing it has vaccinated almost 15 per cent of the population.
What precautions are in place when I get there?
At the time of writing, Croatia is still taking Covid very seriously and visitors are required to wear a mask in enclosed spaces.

Planning your trip
Use common sense.
It sounds simple, but when it comes to planning your trip, the best advice is always to plan as you usually would for any trip abroad.
Make sure you have the right documentation.
In terms of documentation, a valid passport or some other identification document recognized by international agreement is necessary. For certain countries, a personal identity card is sufficient (a document which testifies to the identity and citizenship of the bearer).
What about Covid-related documentation?
According to the US Embassy in Croatia to enter the country, travelers must either present proof of a negative test result (either PCR or rapid antigen test), a certificate of vaccination for “persons whose final dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is more than 14 days prior to crossing the border” or proof of recovery if you’ve recently tested positive for Covid.

Currency in Croatia
What’s the currency in Croatia?
The official currency in Croatia is the kuna, and currently there are 6.19 kuna to the US dollar.
Can you exchange currency when you get there?
For sure. Foreign currency can be exchanged in banks, exchange offices, post offices and in the majority of tourist information offices, hotels and campsites.
Where can I get cash out from?
ATMs (aka Bankomat in Croatia) as well as The Cirrus (tel. 800/424-7787; www.mastercard.com) and PLUS (tel. 800/843-7587; www.visa.com) all allow travelers to withdraw cash from its outlets. If you want to travel cash-light, major credit cards are accepted in almost all hotels, stores, restaurants and bars.
Climate in Croatia
While Croatia provides a great climate for trips all the year round, summer is obviously peak time for travelers to visit the country.
Coastal areas like Istria in the north and Dubrovnik in the south boast average temperatures of 77ºF during the warmest month of the year (July), and 13 hours of sunshine in August. But, summer being summer in central Europe by the coast, you can expect highs of around 90ºF during these two summer months.
August is also the best month to swim in the sea with an average water temperature of 77ºF.
However, if you’re looking for something that’s a little more comfortable, consider visiting in the spring or early fall – the temperatures are still balmy, the Adriatic still invitingly warm, and the crowds not as intense.
Getting around
What’s public like in Croatia?
Public transport (bus and train) is both reliable and affordable in Croatia, and in some cases very necessary – you’ll need to jump on a ferry if you’re planning to explore the country’s array of island options. If you’re traveling short distances, taxis are safe and inexpensive.
Can I hire a car?

Familiar hire-car companies like Europcar and Hertz operate in the country, but you can also rent through smaller local operators, such as Oryx.
