Exclusive Croatian travel is very much the theme of our blog post today because dotted around the coast and near to our private villas are some of the hidden coastal gems – those secrets that all the regular tourists miss.
Here are a few of our favorites to kick off your Croatian dreams.
Gidinj (Hvar)
A picturesque fishing village near to the island’s eponymously-named capital, Hvar, it’s a much quieter option for a beach escape. In fact, its beaches are rarely busy.
Lovrencina (Brač)
Lovrecina Beach is situated in a beautiful, forested bay and only 4km away from Postira (more on that below) on the island of Brač. Country trails and paths meander along the sea edge under the trees from Postira so you can cycle or walk if you feel like it.
Postira (Brač)
Also on the island of Brač, the town stretches out from the clear blue of the Adriatic, climbing up the hill and taking in the centuries-old olive fields, tangerine orchards and pine forests. It can get busy during the weeks of the town’s carnival, but time it right and Postira has everything you need for a secluded getaway – sun, sand and plenty of fragrant agriculture.
Fažana (Istria)
A lovely fishing village within easy reach of Pula, Fažana is the jumping-off point for boats to the unique national park of Brijuni. Often overlooked for this reason, this favoured retreat of Roman aristocracy contains enough traditional taverns and seaside sights and sounds.
Lim Bay (Istria)
The bay was formed during the Jurassic period when the Adriatic Sea flooded the Pazincica river that used to flow here and which became a subterranean river. Because of this, the seawater and river water mix to create favourable conditions for oysters and clams for which Lim Bay is famous for.
Sveti Jakov Beach (Dubrovnik)
One of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik, Sveti Jakov is located in a tiny bay offering views of Lokrum island and Old Town itself. Only a mile away from said Old Town, it’s a local favourite and provides restaurants and beach bars, as well as parasols, sea kayak and jet-ski rental, beach volleyball and more. On the cliffs overlooking the bay is the historic Sveti Jakov Church.
